In fact, that was exactly what was happening. The difference between the photos taken of Messier 100 before and after shows the remarkable effect this had, and the dramatic increase in image quality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eCOSTAR was in place on Hubble until\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.spacetelescope.org\/about\/history\/servicing_mission_4\/\"\u003eServicing Mission 4\u003c\/a\u003e, by which time all the original instruments had been replaced.
